Dat finger moves!
Not sure how this works. How can he hear her but not the other way around? Even assuming her hearing is horrible, she should be able to pick up on the banging of the doors, no?
I’m assuming that the door they both next to is the same one.
It’s not. James is in the truck further away from the car. (While Doris is talking to the agent infront of the truck they were about to lug stacy away in) James can hear them, but since he’s weak his voice and banging against the door isn’t carrying.
To kind of weigh in here on how this was written:
James hears his mother asking about him, then SLAM, door closes. He knows she’s out there. The actual content of her conversation is lost to him. He can’t hear her, and she can’t hear him since he’s pretty weak from being shot in the head.
