So Stacy has been bitten for how long now and hasn’t turned? Karrie said our main guys been dead for two years now.
it has been explained why stacy isnt turning
If you remember earlier in the comic, after she’d been bitten, she was told by a doctor that the bite was benign and that she could “live a completely normal life”. She also explained to James’ mother that the ‘virus’ was in her, but it wasn’t affecting her. So she likely won’t turn unless bitten again or if the virus suddenly starts affecting her.
Now that I think about it, I can totally see the good doctor kidnapping her to study that virus.
Wow. Very nice, Karrie. I officially hate you.
You hate people because they show emotion for being kept in the dark for two years? Okay, nice. I mean come on, if you have a shred of empathy in you, you should at least on some level understand why she’s upset. Also having to deal with probably dying sometime in the next 6 months possibly doesn’t necessarily make one all polite and stuff.
There’s clearly history between these two that we don’t know, for all we know they could be somewhat estranged sisters, or at the very least they used to be best friends (perhaps forever!). I don’t believe we’ve heard either’s surname yet – do correct me if I’m wrong. I think you should wait until more is revealed about their relationships before officially passing judgement on any one character.
People who do not take the time to understand other do not deserve for others to take the time to understand them. Karrie is an adult, she knows better than to throw pointless fits. Being emotionally involved is no excuse to treat everyone around you like garbage, beat your wife, or be verbally abrasive.
” Karrie is an adult, she knows better than to throw pointless fits.”
Last I checked, being an adult doesn’t stop people from being childish from time to time. She is also not a robot.
This is a comic, while it takes us weeks to see this unfold, to the characters, it has been maybe half an hour, if that. Karrie’s probably still confused and angry from the initial shock of seeing James and getting the cold shoulder. Does it excuse her behaviour? No. Does it make her actions more understandable? Yes, or at least it should.
And like I said before, there is previous life here we don’t know and can’t really understand, only guess. In my book, this is one mark of a well written comic – the characters have established history together that affects their behaviour towards other person.
Again as established, Karrie obviously knows, or knew, Stacy very well. She is just assessing the situation to the best of her knowledge. And for all she knows, her very dear friend – both her very dear friends – have failed to tell her something very important.
I’m just going with my own intuition and empathy here, but I think she is hurting bad (I would feel at the very least thoroughly betrayed) and she is currently letting out this hurt. While not in a very adult manner, she probably doesn’t have the time nor the desire to be courteous, what everyone close to her and James did (or failed to do) was a really shitty move on their part.
Okay, perhaps they honestly just forgot to inform Karrie, but seeing how big of a part she played in his earlier life, it seems delibarate. Why? Again, I don’t know, I can only guess. Maybe they thought they’d let her die thinking James was dead, maybe they thought she had enough to deal with with her leukemia. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, after all.
Returning to the rest of your comment, no, being emotionally involved does not excuse anything. But in my opinion it does give us a way to understand someone’s actions. Normal people don’t hurt others unless they themselves are hurt, or at least that’s what the idealist in me wants to believe.
Guys this isn’t difficult and Karrie is semi clearly in the right IMO, though admittedly there is some stuff at least we don’t know about events in close proximity to James’ turning.
But we do know James and Karrie were involved, Karrie mentions having a friend named Stacy that she should introduce to James because they would get along, clearly that is this Stacy, lets not kid ourselves. So bam, one way or the other. Karrie is faced with the fact that not only is her former love, who she has been mourning, not actually quite dead and not only has he forgotten their time together, but also her “friend” Stacy has known the whole time, informed neither party of the situation, and clearly been trying to get with James on some level. She even knows what she did. Its clear with that “Oh shit” response.
I don’t dislike Stacy but there is also no point defending her in the face of the truth,
If James bites Karrie she won’t die…
That’s exactly what I was thinking. And I imagine that might cause a bit of drama between James/Stacy/Kerrie…a perfect maelstrom for her TO get kidnapped as ArKain said!
Stacey could bite Karrie for the same effect.
There isn’t enough virus in Stacey to turn even her own body undead… do you really think she would turn anybody zombie by biting? I seriously doubt it.
Actually. we have not been told her level of infectivity. Just becuase SHE is that rare immune to turning as they mention..I do not believe they specified if she herself could turn others. She might be a form of carrier, like rats with Ypestis.
Long-time exposure to the virus (by way of James) has made her seemingly immune, but she is carrying the virus.
Her bite wound isn’t healing because of it.
Unless I got something wrong.
